Teaching and Learning

THEMATIC AREA 2: TEACHING AND LEARNING

The objective of the thematic area is to offer quality academic programmes

Provision of academic programmes remains a major focus for the African Women’s Studies Centre. All academic disciplines are guilty of marginalizing studies on African women’s perspectives in all areas. This may be through omission or commission but clearly the education system itself in Africa and elsewhere has not considered studies on women, their worldview, their experiences and perspectives as a priority. The Centre intends to break the barriers and even come up with courses that are creative, innovative and focused on the women’s worldview. These postgraduate studies will be promoted through innovative and creative strategies.

The Centre aims to fulfill the goal of the thematic area through the following strategies;

Strategies

  • Review and implement short courses programmes;
  • Develop a post-graduate curriculum
  • Training on academic proposal writing

Expected outcomes to be achieved

  • Develop and implement short courses curriculum
  • Develop and implement a post-graduate curriculum on African Women Studies
  • Develop and implement a curriculum on academic proposal writing
